Tucson, Arizona - Pima Community College Digital Arts Department is presenting their 2023 Digital Arts Expo & Showcase for two days at the West Campus, Center for the Arts 

The Digital Arts Department at Pima focuses on three areas: Digital Game & Simulation, Film & Animation, and Graphic & Web Design. Digital Game and Simulation focuses on creating engaging video games and virtual simulations, combining code, art, sound, animation, and music into interactive tools and experiences. Film and animation focus on digital film arts, learning cinematography, lighting, and audio production, or digital film arts animation, learning digital graphics production, and 2-D and 3-D animation. Graphic & Web design focuses on developing overall layout and production skills demonstrating design, typography, interactive and technical skills.

This year, this exciting two-day event will focus on Film & Animation. Although Graphic and Web Design students will not be featured in this showcase, they will have their artwork on display in the Spring 2023 Student Exhibit in the Visual Arts Gallery at Pima West Campus.

Thursday, May 18th

The reception in the Recital Hall at 6 p.m. will showcase board game designs, a slideshow of graphic design and Illustration work with snacks and refreshments. Followed by the Animation Showcase in the Proscenium Theatre at 7 p.m. hosted by Max Cannon. Animation Awards for all categories will be announced.

The animations will premiere on the Digital Arts Expo site at 6 p.m. Clips of student films will be showcased but you’ll find all the full-length student animations there too. 

Friday, May 19th

The reception in the Recital Hall at 6 p.m. will showcase a slideshow of student graphic design and illustration work with snacks and refreshments. Guests will move to the Proscenium Theatre at 7 p.m. for the film showcase hosted by Peter Catalanotte. Film Awards for all categories will be announced.

This films will premiere on the Digital Arts Expo site at 7 p.m. on Friday. Clips of student films will be showcased and you’ll find all the full-length student films there as well.
